She has had many songs hitting the top of the charts throughout her successful career. One of her most popular songs titled Feel Like Makin' Love is included in this list of top songs. Roberta grew up in church with her Father who was an organist. Therefore, she was immersed in the sacred music of her church gaining an ear for harmony and melody early on. She began taking piano lessons as a child and progressed enough musically to earn herself a scholarship at Howard University in Washington D.C. She became a graduate of the music program at Howard and also met her classmate, later becoming her famous duet partner Donny Hathaway. Roberta Flack utilized her degree and musically acquired knowledge to sing at night clubs during her free time and also teach music. Shortly after she impressed a jazz musician named Leslie McMann who helped her land her first record deal with Atlantic Records. Throughout the 1970's she made great hits including her famous song called Killing Me Softly With His Song and many others. Although Roberta Flack made many famous songs herself she made herself known as a duet artist as well collaborating with other known artists, especially Donny Hathaway. They teamed up to perform and record together throughout the 70's recording their first duet album in 1972. In 1979 an apparent suicide by Donny Hathaway left Roberta in search of a new duet partner. After this tragedy she continued her career collaborating with other artists. Shortly after the passing of Donny Hathaway, Roberta Flack discovered singer-songwriter Peabo Bryson collaborating to make a hit single called Tonight I Celebrate My Love. This song was included on their first duet album released in 1983 called Born To Love. During the entire 1980's she toured and performed later hitting the top 10 charts again in 1991 with song titled Set The Night To Music. This song was also a duet with vocalist Maxi Priest. In 1997 Roberta Flack released a Christmas album finalizing her great achievements during her music career so far.
