Great Artists Past and Present Overview

Great Artists Past and Present was founded in 2017 in Durham, North Carolina by Lenora Helm Hammonds and is supported by the Mellon Foundation/ NCCU- Duke University partnership with John Hope Franklin Institute. The purpose of the project is to preserve cultural heritage and shed light on underrepresented artists within the different areas of humanities. This will be achieved through a curated digital humanities library of artists of African descent in the Performing and Visual Arts.
