Lenora helm hammonds

Lenora is a vocal musician, composer, educator, former US Jazz Ambassador to Southeastern Africa and a Fulbright Senior Music Specialist. She is an Assistant Professor, Jazz Studies at North Carolina Central University, directs the NCCU Vocal Jazz Ensemble and coordinates the NCCU Teaching Artist Certificate Program www.nccu.edu/teachingartist. Hammonds has traveled worldwide performing concerts and giving educational residencies to audiences of all ages, was a GRAMMY Music Educator Quarter-finalist. Lana Garland

Ms. Garland has worked as a Creative Director, Director, and Writer/Producer in television and film in the US and Europe. Her work has included creating content for HBO, BET, and ESPN in America, and TV2 in Denmark. She is the recipient of the Ella Fountain Pratt Emerging Artists Award from the Durham Arts Council and is a Fulbright Specialist in Uganda. Lana is the former Program Director at the Southern Documentary Fund and she is working on her documentary about the legacy of African American washerwomen.
